Scorching Coachella kicks off as Lady Gaga set to helm main stage

The Coachella music festival kicked off in the California desert on Friday, with Lady Gaga and Missy Elliott headlining the main stage. Despite scorching temperatures exceeding 100°F (37.8°C), thousands of fans flocked to the grounds, seeking shade and hydration at water refill stations and sunscreen dispensers.   

Lady Gaga, fresh from her “Mayhem” album release, promised a “massive night of chaos,” while other Friday acts included Parcels, The Prodigy, Tyla, and Blackpink’s Lisa.

The festival also featured a surprise appearance by Yo Gabba Gabba!, delighting attendees with their cult-classic charm. The show is set for a full performance Saturday, with special guests.

Saturday’s lineup boasts Charli XCX, Travis Scott, Green Day, Rawayana, and a unique sunset concert by the Los Angeles Philharmonic conducted by Gustavo Dudamel.   

Sunday’s highlights include Megan Thee Stallion, Post Malone, Ty Dolla $ign, Polo & Pan, Kraftwerk, Shaboozey, and Benson Boone.

Coachella 2025 marks a return to its rock roots, featuring Green Day, The Go-Gos, Misfits, Jimmy Eat World, and Circle Jerks. Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong emphasized rock’s enduring spirit.   

The festival spans two weekends, April 11-13 and 18-20.
