Nora Aunor, dies at 71

The Philippine movie industry’s Superstar, Nora Aunor (Nora Cabaltera Villamayor in real life) died at the age of 71, yesterday (April 16, 2025), according to her son Ian de Leon.

Aunor’s career started as a singer after winning the local talent search, “Tawag Ng Tanghalan.”

She was also called “The Golden Dame of Philippine Cinema” because of her big contribution in the film industry. Aunor receive numerous awards because of her performances in movies like “Bona,” “Himala,” “T-Bird At Ako,” “Thy Womb” to name some.

Her journey from selling water from train platforms to becoming an internationally-acclaimed actress is one of the most popular and inspiring rags-to-riches stories in the local movie industry.

She became a National Artist in 2022.

The Legendary Icon is survived by her four children and grandchildren who have asked for privacy as they grieved.
