“The Pain You Don’t See: The Struggle of Being Gay”

,

Some would say that it’s just a choice. That being homosexual is something a person can decide to change, But what most people don’t see is the pain that hides behind the wonderful smile. The hopeless nights spent crying quietly, wishing to be normal to be treated right. Praying while in agony begging to be accepted by everyone.

It’s so difficult to love yourself when the world tells you not to. When the world tells you otherwise. Many gay people carry a heavy weight in a daily basis. They had to hide parts of themselves just to feel safe. They need to pretend someone they’re not just to be loved. They stay silent, not because they want to, but because they’re afraid — afraid of losing the people they love.

What hurtful the most is knowing some people will never understand. Because it’s easier to judge something you’ve never felt or experienced. It’s easy to say “you’re just confused” when it’s not your truth and it’s not your reality to live.

But being gay is not a choice. It’s not a sin. It’s love. It’s truth.

And no one shoulde have to endure just to feel safe.No one should have to say sorry for simply being who they are.

If people are more understanding and have more compassion. Perhaps there would be fewer lonely hearts, fewer silent tears, and more people courageous enough to live their reality.

So please ,before saying, “It’s just a choice,” ask yourself:Would someone choose to live where they are hated just for existing? Come to think of it.
