Davao City, 2 May 2025 – Pru Life UK expands its Adopt-a-Madrasah program,
empowering more Muslim communities in Mindanao, as part of its Takaful journey. The
Adopt-a-Madrasah learning modules will be rolled out in Davao, Cagayan de Oro, and
Zamboanga.
In October 2024, Pru Life UK piloted its Adopt-a-Madrasah (Islamic school) program for
three madaris in Davao City benefiting over 450 students and teachers with school
materials.
This year, the program aims to support 1,500 students and teachers in nine Islamic schools.
With international NGO ASSIST as its program implementing partner, the Adopt-a-Madrasah
program aims to enhance capacity-building, financial literacy, climate and health awareness
to foster resilient communities. The learning modules will include:
● Islamic finance and Takaful education – Introducing the teachers and students
to Shari’ah-compliant financial services and solutions for financial inclusion.
● Digital upskilling – Equipping the madaris’ teachers with essential technology
learning skills, including basic digital literacy and financial technology (fintech)
applications, to supplement and enhance their teaching practices.
● Climate and health – Educating the teachers and the students about the health
and financial impacts of climate change to promote climate adaptation and resilience.
