Labor leader and senatorial candidate lawyer Sonny Matula reiterated his commitment to bring the issues of the marginalized into the center of policy discussions as he takes root in Lower Iloan, Loreto, Agusan Del Sur on the final day of campaigning.
“Ang kahirapan ng buhay sa kanayunan at ang mga kondisyon na nagpapalala nito ang aking tututukan kung tayo ay papalarin sa Senado,” said Matula.
Matula reintegated with the townsfolk and reminisced the times when he and his playmates swam in Iloan Creek in Loreto.
“We need to preserve our natural resources and develop the countrysides while respecting the biodiversity,” Matula said.
Aside from pursuing living wages, security of tenure and trade union rights, Matula is advocating rural and agricultural development as the base of industrialization.
“We need to support our small farmers and fisherfolks for food security and develop a stimulus package to spur their growth as well as those of nano, micro and small enterprises,” Matula said.
Matula also thanked groups and individuals who helped his campaign that kept running despite having but a small machinery.
Last night in Davao City, Matula met with Congressional candidate Mags Malana, where they shared their respective legislative agenda.
