DOT trains regional accreditation officers on rating accommodation facilities, services

The Department of Tourism (DOT) Office of Tourism Standards Regulation (OTSR) organized a three-day training. It strengthened the technical competencies of regional accreditation officers. The officers learned how to inspect accommodation facilities, services, and business practices professionally. They used a standardized star-rating system.

The National Accommodation Standards (NAS) Training 2026 took place at St. Giles Hotel in Makati City from March 24 to 26. It featured classroom-based discussions on rating different hotel amenities, rooms, and food and beverage. Participants also learned to rate hospitality, efficiency, and friendliness.

The training program also included a site visit to the factory of Canadian Manufacturing. There, participants got a closer look at how the 67-year-old company produces quality hotel fabrics. They also learned how the company tests quality and how its products bring comfort to guests.

The three-day initiative capped off with a mock inspection of two hotel properties. Participants applied and sharpened what they learned about inspecting and auditing establishments.
