Dengue Warning: Public Urged to Recognize Danger Signs and Act Immediately

MANILA, Philippines — The public is urged to remain vigilant against dengue, a mosquito-borne disease that can rapidly progress to a severe and potentially life-threatening condition if warning signs are ignored.

Health authorities remind the public to seek immediate medical attention when dengue symptoms develop, particularly when warning signs such as severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, bleeding, blood in vomit or stool, extreme weakness, or restlessness occur.

These symptoms may indicate severe dengue and require urgent medical evaluation. The public is strongly advised not to wait for the condition to worsen before seeking help at the nearest health facility. Early consultation, proper monitoring, and timely medical intervention are crucial in preventing serious complications and saving lives.

Beyond early detection, preventing mosquito breeding remains a key weapon in the fight against dengue. Every household and community is encouraged to practice the 4Ts: Taob, Taktak, Tuyo, Takip—turn over containers that collect water, remove stagnant water, keep containers dry, and cover water storage properly.

These simple but essential actions help eliminate mosquito breeding sites and reduce the risk of dengue transmission.

Dengue prevention starts at home, but protecting the community requires everyone’s cooperation. Stay alert, recognize the warning signs, eliminate mosquito breeding grounds, and seek medical attention without delay when symptoms appear.

Do not ignore the warning signs. Early action saves lives.
