Sen. Jinggoy Estrada Surrenders to CIDG Following Sandiganbayan Arrest Order

MANILA, Philippines — Senator Jinggoy Estrada voluntarily surrendered to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) at Camp Crame on Monday after the Sandiganbayan issued an arrest warrant against him in connection with plunder and graft charges.The arrest order was released by the Fifth Division of the anti-graft court, just days after Estrada posted bail amounting to P90,000 for a separate graft case.Upon his surrender, Estrada addressed members of the media and stated that he would not seek Senate custody while facing the charges.Further proceedings will be conducted in accordance with the court’s directives as the legal process moves forward.
