Philippine Ambassador to Spain and Andorra Philippe J. Lhuillier convened the embassy’s annual consular consultation in Madrid to align diplomatic strategies ahead of the 80th anniversary of Philippines-Spain diplomatic relations in 2027.
The meeting brought together seven honorary consular officers from Bilbao, Las Palmas, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, Sevilla, and Valencia, alongside representatives from the Philippine Consulate General in Barcelona and attached government agencies.
Lhuillier urged consular officials to expand bilateral cooperation through sustainable partnerships and concrete programs extending beyond the 2027 milestone.
Discussions identified prospective areas for joint initiative, including the maritime and blue economy, renewable energy, digital innovation, agricultural technology, heritage preservation, and sustainable tourism.
Delegates from the Migrant Workers Office, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Philippine Trade and Investment Center, defense attaché, Department of Tourism, and Social Security System participated to present a unified government strategy for protecting overseas workers and advancing trade interests across Spain.
