For Visual Artist and Storyteller Neph A. Tejano, painting was never a forgotten dream—it was simply a dream entrusted to time.
Long before she became an entrepreneur, mentor, advocate, and visual artist, Neph A. Tejano’s love for art began in her childhood. As early as her elementary school years, she found joy in creating paper dolls, designing handmade Christmas cards, coloring, and participating in classroom art projects. These simple childhood activities became the first expressions of a creativity that would quietly grow through the years.
Her passion continued into high school, where she eagerly explored every opportunity to develop her artistic skills. In 1993, her mother enrolled her in a summer oil painting class, marking the beginning of her formal journey as a painter. There, she created still lifes, landscapes, and abstract compositions—works that reflected not only a young artist learning the foundations of color and composition but also someone beginning to explore the relationship between art, emotion, and storytelling. Those early canvases became the first chapters of a journey that, although interrupted by the demands of life and career, would eventually lead her back to the easel with a deeper purpose.
Then life took an unexpected turn.
Responsibilities grew. Family, career, and business demanded her attention. The paintbrush was carefully set aside as she devoted herself to building what would become nearly two decades of entrepreneurship. While many would have considered her artistic chapter finished, the calling never truly disappeared. It simply waited.
More than thirty years later, that same passion returned—not as nostalgia, but as purpose.
Today, Neph’s paintings are no longer created merely to decorate walls. They are created to tell stories.
The recent addition of flowing water introduces another dimension to the story. It quietly hints at the beginning of her forthcoming series, The Living Water, suggesting that every ending carries the promise of a new beginning. Rather than existing as separate paintings, her collections are designed as interconnected chapters of one continuing narrative.
Beyond the canvas, Neph’s commitment to serving others has also transformed the purpose of her art. Through community initiatives and art healing sessions, she has witnessed creativity become a language of hope for individuals facing life’s greatest challenges. These experiences have deepened her conviction that art possesses the extraordinary ability to comfort, encourage, and restore.
From August 21 to 22, Neph A. Tejano’s paintings will be exhibited at the Laguna Event Expo at The Tent, Calamba City, Laguna. While photographs can introduce her work, they reveal only a fraction of its presence. The scale of the canvases, the texture of each brushstroke, the luminous interplay of color, and the intricate symbolism woven into every composition are best appreciated in person.
