iPhone Duo Arrives in the Philippines: What Apple’s First Foldable Offers

For years, the foldable phone has been a promise made mostly by other brands. Now Apple has joined the conversation. iPhone Duo, the company’s first foldable, opened for pre-order in the Philippines on the evening of Friday, October 16. It gives Filipino buyers a first look at how Apple thinks a phone should open, close, and fit into daily life.

Maybe you commute through Metro Manila. Maybe you juggle work between a laptop and your phone. Or perhaps you simply love a bigger screen for the next series on your list. Either way, here is what Apple says the new device brings.

A larger canvas that folds down to pocket size

The headline feature is the display. Opened, iPhone Duo carries Apple’s largest iPhone screen to date. Apple says the inner display is 50 percent larger than the one on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Apple also calls it the thinnest iPhone ever when unfolded.

Folded, the phone settles into a more familiar shape. The 5.4-inch outer display offers about 90 percent of the screen area of the iPhone 18 Pro. As a result, quick replies, maps, and payments stay within easy reach of one hand. Measured as rectangles, Apple lists the inner screen at 7.58 inches diagonally and the outer screen at 5.36 inches, with a slightly smaller viewable area in both cases.

It arrives in two finishes, star white and night sky. It also carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, tested in a lab for up to six meters for 30 minutes. Apple notes that this resistance can fade with wear, and that liquid damage is not covered by the warranty. In a country where rainy-season commutes are a given, that is worth reading twice.

Cameras built for every angle

Photography is where the Duo leans on Apple’s strengths. The rear system pairs a 48MP Fusion Main camera, with zero shutter lag. Alongside it sits an integrated 2x Telephoto that Apple describes as optical quality. A 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera also handles macro shots. For travelers and food lovers alike, that covers wide landscapes, table-top details, and everything in between.

On the front, a Center Stage camera works in any orientation. A new FaceTime camera also sits beneath the inner display. That makes video calls with family abroad easier to frame, whether the phone is held upright or propped on its side. Such calls are a familiar ritual in many Filipino households.

Power, battery, and a software built to fold

Inside, iPhone Duo runs on the A20 Pro chip and iOS 27. A dual-battery design is meant to deliver all-day battery life, a claim to test against real routines once reviews arrive. The software adapts as the phone changes shape. It offers Split View for multitasking and app switching. Layouts respond when the device is folded, turned, or flipped. StandBy mode is also available on either display, even when the phone is not charging.

Cases, folios, and protection

Apple is launching dedicated accessories alongside the phone. The iPhone Duo Folio, offered in navy blue and taupe, has a built-in kickstand with a range of viewing angles. The two-part iPhone Duo Case comes in sand and navy blue. Both work with MagSafe, Qi2 25W, and Qi-certified chargers.

For added peace of mind, AppleCare+ and AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss are available in select markets. Where offered, AppleCare One Individual matches the price of AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss and covers two more devices.

What to know before you pre-order in the Philippines

Pre-orders opened at 8 p.m. on Friday, October 16, on apple.com/ph and through the Apple Store app. Apple’s announcement did not list peso pricing, storage options, or release dates. Please check the Apple Store listing for the latest details before you commit. As with any first-generation design, it is also wise to wait for hands-on reviews, especially on battery life and everyday durability.

For many readers, the real question is not whether a foldable is impressive, but whether it fits the way they live. If your day moves between messages, meetings, maps, and a little downtime, iPhone Duo is Apple’s answer to that rhythm. The pre-order window is now open.
