MANDALUYONG CITY, Philippines — Bringing smiles, comfort, and emotional support to residents facing life’s challenges, the Doctor Dogs visited the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Sanctuary Center during the Alaga Sessions Culminating Activity of the Angel Pets Program on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
The heartwarming visit highlighted the power of animal-assisted activities in promoting emotional recovery and psychosocial well-being, particularly among individuals who have experienced trauma and difficult life circumstances.
Through their gentle presence and affectionate interactions, the specially trained dogs offered residents moments of happiness, calmness, and meaningful companionship—showing how animals can help create a more positive and supportive environment.
The DSWD’s Angel Pets Program provides psychosocial support to residents of its Centers and Residential Care Facilities (CRCFs) through animal-assisted activities designed to improve emotional well-being and encourage positive daily experiences.
The initiative underscores the importance of compassionate, holistic care in helping residents cope with challenges, rebuild emotional strength, and experience the healing power of human-animal connection.
Beyond the wagging tails and joyful moments, the activity delivered a powerful message: sometimes, a little affection from a four-legged friend can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.
Through programs like Angel Pets, the DSWD continues to promote care, compassion, and dignity for every individual, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring that every life matters.
